- Deadlines for entries: artisan 12 February, amateur 19 February –
Marmalade makers wanting to enter The World’s Original Marmalade Awards & Festival have just days left to perfect their citrusy concoctions, parcel up their jars and post them off for judging.
Artisan entries for the 2012 Awards need to be received no later than Sunday 12 February, and amateur entries no later than Sunday 19 February, so a final a’peel’ is being made for last minute entrants to get their skates on. Entries have been arriving at Marmalade HQ for weeks, with jars coming from as far as Singapore and South Africa.
With a recent report suggesting UK marmalade sales are still falling, festival organisers are hoping to prove the preserve is still popular with
Brits and that a growing number are now making their own. They want to see last year’s record of over 1,100 amateur and commercial marmalade
entrants from across the globe to the prestigious marmalade contest smashed.
The Awards are part of this quintessentially British festival which is being held at the historic Dalemain Mansion, in the Lake District, UK on February 25th and 26th 2012. The event, which kicks off the first ever National Marmalade Week, boasts appearances from Paddington Bear, marmalade-making workshops, bread-making demonstrations, as well as a Marmalade Church service and a Marmalade concert. Tickets for the workshops and the concert are still available, details on the website.
Categories for the 2012 Awards include:
